We bought this to replace an ailing VSB200. This new soundbar has fixed a number of problems with the older unit.Compared to VSB200/202:Pros:More compact, lighter weightNice readable display on front panel (textual display indicates input source, numeric volume setting, in the "mute" state, and a small led is lit whenever the unit is on.)Nicer remoteNo more problems with remote IR line-of-sight occlusion (i.e. the remote works every time.)Remembers input selection even after power is disconnected.Cons:Mid and high frequencies are fine, but has very little bass. (Bass is not essential for our needs... But the older bars sounded fuller.)Increased power consumption. (With average audio content, the 200 averaged about 6 watts, the 202 used 4.5, but this new bar swings between 6.5 and 10 watts. The vizios in general are very efficient.)More easily driven to distortion than the older/bigger soundbars if you set the bass above '2'.All in all, the bar does what we need it to do. It is not an audiophile device... but it is much superior to the built in speakers on our ultra thin flat panel TVs.Update 2013/03/17:For those who want more bass, I'm told that the Vizio SB4021M-A1 is essentially this bar with a matched external subwoofer.Also, for those who might have been having trouble with the optical audio cable looseness, I've been using the Belkin AV20000B03 PureAV which seems to fit snugly.

In our house, we have a living room set-up with a huge TV and a "real" surround sound set-up with a receiver and multiple speakers spread thorough the room. It sounds great and can't be beat by any sound bar. That said, we have other TVs in the house that aren't as big of a priority as our living room. Bedrooms and some other rooms in the house warrant TVs and good sound, but not the huge investment that we put into the living room. For us, that is where Sound Bars come in perfect use. For years we just used the built in speakers on those TVs throughout the house. It was fine, but compared to the living room set-up, the sound was really lacking.This sound bar is perfect for that situation. With its own internal amplifier, you just plug it in to your TV and use it instead of the TV's terrible internal speakers. Considering the ease of set-up and the price, it sounds awesome. For some types of shows, it is honestly as good as a real 5.1 set-up. For real intensive content like action movies, it won't compare to our living room set-up, but that isn't its goal for us. For us the goal was to make bedroom TVs sound acceptable, and it fully achieves that goal.If you want a really awesome Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 set-up, look elsewhere (like at a receiver, speakers, and a bunch of cable). If you want an incredible improvement over the speakers that come built into your television, for a really reasonable price, and super easy set-up, than this is the way to go. I highly recommend this sound bar.

I have been addicted to Vizio since I started to hear about it about a year ago. They consistently bring cheap prices to high end results. This sound bar is NO exception!
